Tulsa’s Bishop Kelley Comets and Edison Eagles met in 5A District 3 competition at LaFortune Stadium Thursday night. Both teams were 1-0 in district play.
Kelly broke on top with a 5yard pass to Cori Lewis from Stephen Collins. Kelley would hold a 7-0 lead through most of the half as they kept Edison’s offense under wraps.
But with seconds to go in the second quarter Edison’s star running back Sevion Morrison broke loose for 63 yards and took the ball down to the Kelley one yard line. Then with 12 seconds left in the half, the Nebraska commit got the one yard remaining and the score was tied at 7 at the half.
Highlights Bishop Kelley vs. Edison:
In the third quarter Edison scored on a two play drive that was capped by a 39 yard Morrison touchdown run. The Eagles led 14-7. On their next possession quarterback Rhazjon Green
ran 84 yards to score and built the Edison lead to 21-7. Then it was Sevion Morrison again for a 23 yard touchdown and Edison was up 27-7 going into the fourth quarter. The Eagles had scored four touchdowns over the course of seven offensive plays.
In the fourth quarter, Morrison who rushed for 253 yards on 27 carries, got another touchdown from 5 yards out. Bishop Kelley’s Stephen Collins scored a late touchdown for Kelley. But Edison has taken charge of District 5A-3 with a 33-14 victory over Bishop Kelley.
