The recently formed Newport Collegiate Baseball League has announced a partnership to televise 15 live games this summer. Games will air live in Rhode Island on YurView and nationally on Cox Sports Television (CST).
“The past few months have been anything but normal”, said Mike Falcone, NCBL Commissioner. “The NCBL worked closely with the City of Newport to make this league possible for the student athletes, families, friends, and fans that share a passion for baseball. Initially, there will be no fans in attendance but with the help of Cox Communications, everyone can watch games live on YurView and CST and help our players’ showcase their talents to local and national audiences.”
“Today’s announcement illustrates our commitment to the communities we serve,” said John Parris, Director of Content for YurView “We’ve all been missing live sports, and this is a great opportunity to partner with an innovative local organization while bringing live baseball back for our viewers. By leveraging our relationship with CST, fans around the country will be able to see some of the nation’s best collegiate talent.”
Game production will be handled by the NCBL’s in house broadcast team, made up primarily of collegiate interns and local professionals.
NCBL Director of Media Relations, Tom Lima, expressed his excitement for this partnership by saying, “The ability to broadcast Newport Collegiate Baseball League games on YurView and CST is an incredible opportunity. Not only will we be able to highlight the athletic talent on the field, it will provide unique experience and exposure for the broadcast crew in front of and behind the camera.”
