Bishop Hendricken 4th Quarter Flurry Downs Central 14-8

Two Championship Teams From Spring's "Fall II" Season Face Off.

In a game with huge playoff implications on a crisp Monday night in Warwick, The Hawks took care of Central 14-8. Most of the contest could be described as a defensive battle as both teams had trouble sustaining any real offensive firepower. The game was scoreless at halftime.
Hendricken struck first with 10:54 to go in the 4th quarter on a 4th and 3 from the 9 yard line giving them a 7-0 advantage after the PAT. As the clock wound down in the 4th, Central’s Judah Varfley struck on a 27 yard run with 1:36 to go making the score 7-6 in Hendricken’s favor. Central would convert the critical 2-point conversion in what may have seemed like the winning score tipping the Knights the lead 8-7 with just 1:36 left.

The Hawks passing game would suddenly wake-up when they needed it most as quarterback David Lynch set up a series of strikes to Peter Bibby and to Andrew Picard on a critical 4th and 3 that took Hendricken down to Central’s 22 yard line with 35 seconds left. As pass interference call in the end-zone with 12 seconds to go set up the winning score as Lynch hit Andrew Noland giving the Hawks the victory 14-8.
