The Jaguars of Desert Ridge High School defeated the Mountain Pointe Pride after a very tight game.
Going into the game, both squads had 6-1 records on the season and both excelled at a running game offensively. The hype for this match up did not disappoint. Defensively, interceptions troubled both offensive teams causing long runs to be cut short and kickers to stay warm. Mountain Pointe grabbed 4 interceptions while Desert Ridge recovered 2 turnovers.
Jaguar Jr. RB and WR Lucas Wright was awarded Player of the Game after a great, offensive performance. Among his stats were 116 rushing yards, 43 receiving yards and a touchdown to top it off with the help of Jr. QB Cooper Schmidt.
The Pride and Jaguars traded back and forth with game leads in the fourth quarter. Mountain Pointe fought hard but was unable to stop the momentum Desert Ridge gained in the final moments of the game. The Jaguars defeated the Pride 31 to 20.
