Watch a full game replay of Campo Verde vs. Williams Field (Arizona) high school football.
When Williams Field started the season 0-2, losing to California power Norco and Sunrise Mountain, head coach Steve Campbell wasn’t sure if his Black Hawk squad was going to be a contender this season. After a 35-13 win over neighboring rivals Campo Verde, Williams Field is right in the thick of things for the 5A Division title in Arizona. They have now won 7 straight games.
Senior tailback Kendrix Lurry got things started off for the Black Hawks when he took a handoff and jetted 71 yards for the score to put Williams Field up 7-0. On the following possession, Cornerback Carson Speer gambled and won, taking a pick six 36 yards to the house putting Williams Field up 14-0.
The Knight Hawks defense picked off Coyote quarterback Zach Herrera four times and didn’t give up a score until late in the game.
Lurry ended the game with 119 yards on 14 carries with 2 scores. Sophomore Kaden Cloud had 62 yards rushing, caught a big 42 yard pass to keep a drive alive, and scored a touchdown. Super sub Davin Switzer came off the bench when starter Mason Bugg got hurt and threw for 142 yards on 7 of 11 passes and a touchdown.
Caden Calloway, as he has all season, led the Coyotes with 152 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns.
Williams Field plays Higley this week for the San Tan Region title while Campo Verde hopes to end a two game losing streak against Casteel and secure their spot in the playoffs.
