It’s been 25 years since Bobby Hurley led Duke to their epic 1992 repeat championship and was named NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. All these years later, those Blue Devils are still considered by many to be the standard for great college basketball teams.
Now the Head Coach at Arizona State, Hurley can now appreciate the greatness of that team, as they went 34-2 and capped off Duke’s fifth consecutive trip to the Final Four with that repeat.
“I just know now as a coach just how difficult it is to coach and win games, any game,” Hurley said. “It makes it more impressive to me what we were able to accomplish.”

Noting how Christian Laettner saved their season in the Elite Eight vs. Kentucky in perhaps the greatest college basketball game ever, the NCAA’s all-time assists leader knows how special their 1992 run was.
“I’m just really proud that we did it, I think we’d go down as one of the great teams in the history of college basketball,’ Hurley said on the final episode of Dash to the Desert.
