The University of Rhode Island Women’s basketball team, picked to finish 11th in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, ended their regular season with a decisive 87-68 victory over VCU in a battle for fourth place. The win earned URI a coveted double bye in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, meaning Rhody only needs three wins to win an A-10 championship and make the NCAA Tournament.
Coach Tammi Reiss was thrilled with her team’s dominating performance, but now she’s looking forward to the Atlantic 10 Tournament. “We want to win a championship,” Reiss said.
URI’s first game in the A-10 Tournament will be Friday, March 12.
