Providence College Friars Men’s Basketball and URI Rams Men’s Basketball will both have a home on Cox’s YurView (channels 4 and 1004) for the 2018-2019 season.
The Friars, fresh off a 21-14 season and 5th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, will be featured four times on YurView New England this season, part of a BIG EAST package that includes 19 men’s basketball games. Ed Cooley’s squad was predicted to finish third in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the highest the Friars have been selected since conference realignment.
* Will junior guard Alpha Diallo be the one to lead this team to a 6th consecutive NCAA bid?
*Will heavily touted incoming freshman David Duke and A.J. Reeves live up to expectations?
*Can Emmit Holt come back after a lost season and provide the leadership and rebounding the Friars desperately need?
Fans will start getting some answers on November 6th when the Friars open their season against Siena, a game that will air live on YurView at 6:30pm.
The University of Rhode Island Rams won the 2017-2018 A-10 regular season championship. They finished 26–8, and 15–3 in A-10 play. After losing to Davidson in the A-10 tournament championship game, they received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. There, they lost in the second round to Duke.
2018-2019 sees a very different Rams team. New head coach David Cox takes the helm attempting to rebuild a team after the graduation of five seniors last spring. One goal will certainly be to make the NCAA tournament for the 3rd consecutive year (last done in 1997, 1998, and 1999). The Rams tip off against Bryant on YurView on Tuesday, November 6th (tape delay) immediately following the PC vs. Siena game.
YurView will also televise and stream both Providence College and the University of Rhode Island coaches shows. The Ed Cooley show and the David Cox Show will begin on YurView right after the holidays as conference season heats up (Dates TBA)
