Bears’ all-time record vs. PC improves to 23-0

Brown University’s dominance over Providence College men’s lacrosse continues. The Bears thwarted the Friars streak-breaking effort in a thrilling 13-12 double OT victory seen live on YurView New England. Providence was looking for its first-ever victory over Brown and this was one of their best chances yet.

The win improves Brown’s record to 6-5. The Friars 5 game win streak comes to a close and they drop to 9-4 on the season. Tonight’s win also means the Ocean State Cup will be decided on April 25th when the Bears visit Bryant University.

Things were going PC’s way for most of the game. The Friars led by as many as 3 goals and held a 11-9 lead with 12:53 left in the 4th but, ultimately, Brown had too much firepower. The Bears outscored the Friars 4-1 the rest of the way behind 2 goals (including the OT game-winner) from freshman attackman Jack Kiffin.

Malloy Moving Up the Charts

Brown’s scoring attack was led by senior All-American Dylan Malloy’s 3 goals, adding to his school record. Malloy also added 2 assists (including one to Kiffin for the winning goal), becoming just the 11th player in NCAA history with over 300 points.

Malloy’s point total now stands at 303, just 13 points behind Brown record holder Darren Lowe. His 187 career goals rank 9th all-time and, with a chance of moving into the top 5, he could move past legends such as Gary Gait and Miles Thompson.

Larken Kemp, Brown’s senior long stick middie, also reached a career milestone. He had 2 goals and an assist, giving him 53 career LSM points, second only to Bryant’s Mason Poli, who had 55 points from 2010-2013.

Providence senior attackman Austin Goltz found the net 4 times to pace the Friars for his first career hat trick.
