Matchup will air live on YurView New England.
Usual roles will be reversed tonight as the Brown University men’s lacrosse team visits crosstown rival Providence College. The Bears are a traditional lax power but it’s the Friars who come into this game sporting a top 20 NCAA ranking. Fans can watch live on YurView New England (Channel 1004 for Cox customers) starting at 7pm. The game will also stream live on Friars.com.
Providence will be looking for their first-ever win vs. the Bears; in the series that began in 1980, the two have met 21 times and Brown has won all 21 games.
The Friars extended their record to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in the Big East with a 9-7 win over Marquette on Saturday (their 5th win in a row) and helped them move into the NCAA Top 20 for the first time ever.
Brown (5-5, 2-2 Ivy) is coming off an 18-12 loss to Yale, despite four goals from sophomore attackman Jackson Newsome and three goals from senior All-American attackman Dylan Molloy. Malloy, the 2016 Tewarraton Award Recipient, enters the game 9th on the all-time NCAA scoring list and holds the all-time goals record at Brown with 184.
A Friar win means they’ll secure the Ocean State Cup, given to the Rhode Island program with the best overall head to head record. If Brown wins, the Cup will be decided by their game vs. Bryant later this month.
