October is Pedestrian Safety Month, and Halloween is perhaps one of the most- traveled (by foot) nights of the year!
Jillian Cowherd from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles joined Living 757 for the Halloween special, to talk about how to be safe as a driver and as a pedestrian while trick-or-treating!
As a pedestrian, you need to be aware of your surroundings and be present in the moment! Make eye contact with drivers to ensure that they see you and your children. Put your phone away (after you got those cute pictures!).
If you are driving on Halloween, when leaving the house- take extra special care when leaving your driveway!
Put your phone away, expect the unexpected, and do not ever drive after partaking in an adult beverage.
On Halloween, make sure you have on something that lights up and/or that is reflective! Also- remember that there is safety in numbers! The larger your group, the more likely a driver is to see you.
And remember to have a SAFE AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
