Bellagio Fountains

It’s hard to believe that we’re talking about November already! This year has certainly flown by! And of course, here in Vegas, November is all about Formula 1. This is the second year of Formula 1’s Las Vegas Grand Prix and the event will take place November 21st-23rd, although folks come into town well before the start of the race, as there are several post-race events.

The track lighting and grandstands align the race route, and the pedestrian and emergency vehicle bridges are installed. Now of course, this changes the typical views of the Strip and also makes it challenging to enjoy some of the sights that both locals and visitors alike flock to the Strip to see.  For instance, the grandstands block the street views of the iconic Bellagio Fountains and those wanting to catch the show can only do so from the pedestrian bridges; however, during the race, these bridges will no longer be an option, as the glass is covered and the “no standing” law is enforced.

With all of this construction, expect delays on the roads, which impacts travel in this area whether you’re using a taxi, rideshare, rental car or the bus. It’s all the same roadways, so pack your patience and allow extra time for travel. Also, expect rates to go up all around when it comes to hotels, restaurants and rideshares/taxis.

The Mirage is still in the ongoing construction phase as it transforms to the Hard Rock, which isn’t anything new; however, this was a Formula 1 hotspot last year, so the viewing space for the race has decreased.

Across Las Vegas Blvd at The Venetian, the outdoor gondolas will be placed on hold for the grandstands. The gondolas indoor will still be available for the serenaded rides.

Now let’s get into the weather. November is slightly unpredictable, but the evening temperatures are always much cooler, with lows dipping into the 40s and in some cases the 30s.  The average daily high during the month is the low 60s to upper 70s, but the closer to the end of the month the colder it gets. Dressing in layers is recommended and you definitely want a warmer jacket or sweater for the evenings. Needless to say, the Las Vegas pool season is over for those properties with seasonal pools; however, the second half of the month is when you can begin to experience the holiday spirit in Vegas, as several holiday attractions open around Thanksgiving.

Aside from the Las Vegas Grand Prix, there are a ton of other events happening on the Ninth Island throughout November and here’s what you can expect if you’re visiting this month:

Of course, all of the regular shows are happening throughout the month, including two that we recently had the pleasure to attend.  We saw Awakening at Wynn Las Vegas, which features such a talented cast, as well as an amazing production team. This is a very high-energy, visually stimulating show. We recently featured Awakening’s Fire Stick Dancer, Naenoa George, on our television show. Naenoa moved with his family from Hawaii and in addition to performing in Awakening, he also continues to perform in the largest Polynesian dance group in Las Vegas, Tevakanui. For more information, check out www.Awakening.com

NIC’s Sebastian & Kristine with Colin Cloud

We also had the pleasure to catch Colin Cloud at Harrah’s Las Vegas. Cloud is a mentalist/illusionist with comedy sprinkled in throughout the show. Along with his engaging presence, there is a heavy crowd participation aspect of the show that adds to the entertainment of this show. For more information check out www.ColinCloud.com
