Some of you might remember when we had professional race car driver Mark Wertz on Living 757 virtually! Well he invited Ashley out to Langley Speedway in Hampton to experience all things race day, and it didn’t disappoint.
Langley Speedway
First Ashley has the opportunity to chat with Vaughan Crittenden who is the Track Promoter and General Manager of Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway. He tells her a bit about the history of the track, and about the big late model race that they host now- called the “Hampton Heat.”
Fun for the Whole Family
Vaughan also explains why Langley Speedway is the perfect place to bring the entire family for some fun! Between the races, the great food and the electric atmosphere- the whole family will enjoy a night at Langley.
Pit Row
Next Ashley finds herself in the middle of a live Pit Row with Mark! Pit Row is where the magic happens. The cars get fueled up, tires are changed, adjustments are made to the car- and someone on that pit row will become a winner!
A Family Affair
Bobby Miller is Mark’s co-crew chief. He explains that a lot of shenanigans happen all up and down pit row, and that they’re all like one big family! And especially Team 55 (Mark’s team!) is a family as well.
Mark’s daughter Karly Wertz has been attending races at Langley Speedway since she was one week old! Karly says it has really been a treat to be a part of something her dad loves so much.
Winner Winner!!
For drivers, Langley Speedway is one of the more difficult tracks to race on. But it’s said that if you can win at Langley on race day, you can win anywhere! And speaking of winners, Mark ended up coming out on top and winning! Congratulations to Mark and Team 55!
