It’s 2021 and the gangs all here. After taking the 2020 football season off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Omaha Public Schools will again field the teams that make up some of the Metro’s great rivalries. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome them back to the gridiron and onto the big stage on Friday nights.

For 2021, YurView has built an exciting and diverse schedule, featuring top teams and fantastic matchups from around Omaha area. Here’s where we’ll be this fall (schedule subject to change).
Here are five teams to watch in 2021 – all of whom appear on our GameTime schedule, .
Omaha Westside
The Warriors won the state title last season after falling in the championship game in 2019. A lot of production graduated and moved on, including two of the best secondary players in the state in Avante Dickerson and Koby Bretz.
Westside will break in a new quarterback as well after Cole Payton’s brilliant three-year run at the helm came to an end. Senior running back Dominic Rezac is one of the few returning skill position players for Westside and should figure heavily into head coach Brett Froendt’s offensive plans.

If Rezac has the kind of year he did in 2020 and the defense can find a way to replace even half of what it lost, Westside should be in the conversation right to the end.
Omaha North
The Vikings should be hungry coming into 2021. After not having a season in 2020, Larry Martin’s bunch could come roaring back into the metro football scene. His program has played for five state titles since 2012 and has won three.
Can’t wait for the season to start time to go to war💛💙‼️‼️‼️ #wartime #35 #govikings #family pic.twitter.com/NehvukEdlr

North is usually known for its I-formation power running game. Names like Zander Gray, Milton Sargbah, and Calvin Strong come to mind. Finding somebody to dot the I will be a key factor in the season to come. Quarterback Jordan Williams and receiver Deshaun Williams could develop into a potent passing combination.
North faces stiff early tests. In weeks two and four, the Vikings square off with Omaha Westside and Omaha Burke. Both contests will be shown on GameTime.
Omaha Burke
Paul Limongi’s Bulldogs are usually among the most talented squads in the Metro. With a year off, there are plenty of questions about what the makeup of the offense will be. There isn’t much experience to go around, and the Bulldogs will have to hit the ground running.

Perhaps the biggest game of the year comes in week one, as Burke visits the newly minted powerhouse in Bellevue West. On defense, there’s no question about Devon Jackson. The four-star linebacker is one of the best players in the state and should
be a tackling machine. If the Burke offense can catch up to where we think
the defense will be, this team will be very dangerous.
Elkhorn South
Elkhorn South has taken Class A by -ahem- storm. Puns aside, this program is no joke. The school that stayed near the top of Class B hasn’t skipped a beat since moving up. After reaching the state title game a year ago, the Storm should be contenders again.
Almost time for some Nebraska High School Football…. Class A State Runner-Up Elkhorn South @ESStormFootball & 2022 LB/TE Koy Wilke @KoyWilke & 2023 RB/DB/ATH Cole Ballard @cole_ballard5 are ready to go to work pic.twitter.com/x3x10ufTV0

Guy Rosenberg’s squad should be best along both lines, led by fast-rising junior Maverick Noonan. Throw in returning quarterback Will Skradis, running backs Ben Warren and
Cole Ballard, and a host of receivers, and you’ve got the makings of another potent offense on 204th street.
Creighton Prep
The Junior Jays reached the quarterfinals in the state playoffs a year ago and look to be made of the things headman Tim Johnk likes. Prep is big and physical on both lines, and 6-5, 265-lb Sam Sledge is quickly gaining traction in recruiting circles.
@CPFootball17 is excited to announce our captains for the 2021 season. These guys have been leaders from the get go. Congrats to Jack Piernicky, @mike_barrett24, @kirkwoodj2022 & @SamSledge1. They will be greats representatives for @CreightonPrep. #leaders pic.twitter.com/aMnfy2tMyy

Jack Stessman returns in the backfield to head up what should be a grinding, clock-chewing offensive unit. The defense loses the leadership and playmaking ability of Nebraska walk-on Alex Bullock, but should have plenty of horses on the back end. Prep visits Papillion-LaVista South on GameTime in week 8.
