Three-time defending Kansas 6A state champion Derby will be featured twice this fall in the recently released 2021 Yurview Kansas High School Football Game of the Week schedule.
The Panthers, who claimed last year’s title with a convincing 56-31 win over Blue Valley North, will first play host to Wichita’s Bishop Carroll High School on Friday, Sept. 17th. Derby has won six of the last eight 6A titles in Kansas’ largest classification. The game will be the first in the Panthers’ new multi-million dollar stadium.
The Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles are coming off a solid season of their own. They advanced to the 5A semifinals a year ago before falling to Wichita Northwest.
Derby’s second appearance on Yurview will take place on Friday, Oct. 15th when it welcomes the Maize Eagles to town. Maize, who went 9-2 a year ago and advanced to the 5A quarterfinals, shocked Derby last season with a thrilling, 36-35 win.
The 2021 Yurview broadcast season officially kicks off Thursday, Sept. 2nd when Wichita Northwest takes on Bishop Carroll. Northwest will be looking to return to the playoffs after advancing to the 5A title game a year ago.
