A showdown between Oklahoma’s defending 6A-I and 6A-II state champions highlights YurView’s 2021 Ford High School Football Game of the Week television schedule, which was released earlier this week.
On Friday, September 3rd, the Jenks Trojans play host to the Bixby Spartans in one of the most anticipated games of the regular season. The two prep powerhouses met last season, with Bixby escaping with a thrilling 42-35 victory over the Trojans. The Spartans have won three of the last four meetings against Jenks, including two straight.
YurView’s 2021 high school football broadcast schedule kicks off Thursday, August 26th in the Oklahoma City area when Southmoore tangles with Tulsa’s Booker T. Washington High School. The action begins on the east side of the state the very next night when Sand Springs and Sapulpa renew their Highway 97 rivalry in the season opener for both schools.
An early-season tradition continues on YurView, Friday, Sept. 10th when rivals Jenks and Union clash in the annual MidFirst Backyard Bowl. The two teams traditionally play at the University of Tulsa to accommodate large crowds, but this year’s matchup will take place in the newly renovated Union Tuttle Stadium.
Jenks has won five of the last seven regular-season showdowns. The two programs have combined to win 22 of the last 25 6A state championships.
Another quality Yurview matchup features a rematch of last season’s 6A-II championship game. Choctaw welcomes Bixby to town on Friday, October 8th.
Bixby held on for a 17-14 victory over the Yellowjackets in last year’s title game to garner its third straight title. The Spartans enter the season on an impressive 36-game winning streak.
Broadcasting the games for YurView this season in the Oklahoma City area will be veteran announcer Steve Marshall and former Oklahoma State Cowboy Deion Imade. Tulsa-area games will be represented by long-time play-by-play man Mike Ziegenhorn and analyst Rod Thompson.
Other notable rivalry games dot YurView’s early-season schedule. OKC Millwood–Heritage Hall (Sept. 2) and Holland Hall–Metro Christian (Sept. 17) will also take place the first month of the season.
