For many of us, a party isn’t complete without guacamole and margaritas (more about margaritas later). Chef Shannon Smith sent us some recipes guaranteed to shake up your celebration.

Traditional
Ingredients:
- 2 avocados
- 1 clove of garlic
- juice of 1 lime
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
You remove the pit . . . Take a spoon and scoop out the flesh and put it into a bowl and mash it with a fork. So, for traditional guacamole, you’re going to add to this avocado, some salt, some fresh garlic, and lime juice. Give it a stir.
And that’s all you need. Now I’m going to show you two more ways to make guacamole using a few more ingredients.
Tropical
Ingredients:
- 2 avocados
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh pineapple
- 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1/4 cup chopped red onion
- juice of 1 lime
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
This is a tropical guacamole. So, to the avocado, I’m going to add some fresh pineapple. Some tomatoes, a little chopped red onion, salt, and lime juice. Give this a stir, and you have a tropical guacamole.
Tangy
Ingredients:
- 2 avocados
- 1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1/3 cup dried cranberries
- juice of 1 lime
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Now this is a tangy guacamole. So to the avocado, I’m going to add some dried cranberries and some crumbled feta cheese.
A little bit of salt, not too much, because the feta cheese has a lot of salt in it. And then some lime juice. And give it a stir.
Now you have three ways to prepare guacamole.
Yum . . . all we need now is a margarita. Our friends from Seven Grand Whiskey Bar came up with a spicy watermelon margarita recipe that will knock your socks off.
