The VCU Rams have built a program that is now entering its seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament. Although the Rams success has been consistent, the way they’re built has been a little different this year.
Will Wade wanted to develop more of a post-presence/physicality to his team, as the last several VCU teams have been guard-oriented. It took a little while to take shape this season, as Wade told Chris DiSano in an exclusive interview this week, but the result is the same – VCU wins.
“So as we’ve undergone a shift in the philosophy, it took us a little while this year to get everybody to understand that this is what works and it’s good for VCU winning — which is the main thing,” Wade told DiSano.
DiSano highlighted the physicality of VCU on Dash to the Desert, speaking with Vin Parise and Scott Williams, who like the Rams’ chances of facing an deep and talented Arizona program in a West region second-round matchup.
