After a nearly two-hour rain delay, the the Sulphur Golden Tors and the Southside Sharks made it an exciting Class 5A contest Friday night at Teurlings Catholic Stadium.
The Southside Sharks came into the game with a 1-2 record. They opened their season with 35-6 win over Franklin Academy but lost their last two games to Carencro (37-27) and #1 ranked Acadiana (48-7). Needless to say, the Sharks were hungry for a win.
Southside lost QB Dillon Monette to injury early on a quarterback keeper, and spent the rest of the evening under the leadership of relative newcomer Gavyn Menard. It didn’t seem to slow them down a bit, as Menard had a reliable receiving corps to lean on. His most impressive throw by far was complimented by the diving catch of Edan Stagg for the touchdown.

Jack Pruitt delivered for the Sharks in a big way. He was a weapon that the Tors had trouble containing, and it shows in his stats.

Southside struggled to maintain disciplined play on defense, leading to a high scoring third quarter in particular.
Sulphur took advantage with a huge Jacob Clark pass to Braylen Walker to bring the score within 10.
