Here’s how to watch Millard North vs Omaha Westside
Mustangs Looking for Big Upset Over Warriors
What more can be said of Omaha Westside – defending Class A champions, #1 ranked team in Class A (#3 state), undefeated at 5-0 this season, averaging 40+ points a game and outscoring opponents 222-52. That’s not even including a bevy of talented players on both sides of the ball. Last week, the Warriors coasted to a 42-0 win over Grand Island.

The question is, can any team slow down, let alone beat this year’s version of the Westside Warriors?
Millard North knows it will be a huge challenge to hang with, let alone beat Westside on the road Friday night. However, you can be sure that the Mustangs will give it their best effort for coach Fred Petito.
After a bye-week, a well-rested Millard North team comes into the game at 1-3 on the season. In their last game, they won a 46-41 shootout over Lincoln East. The Mustangs will battle, but can they hang with Westside long enough to give themselves a chance to win?
Players to Watch
Westside Warriors have a lot of good players but few can match the athletic talent of 4-star senior DB Avante Dickerson. He’s the #1 ranked player in the state, #3 cornerback in the nation, and #47 on the ESPN 300. In April, Dickerson surprised a lot of people when he committed to Minnesota over in-state favorite Nebraska. Look for him to get a lot of touches on both sides of the ball.

Even though Dickerson is considered the best all-around athlete on the team, the Westside offense is led by senior dual-threat QB Cole Payton. In the first half of last week’s game, Payton was an efficient 10 of 12 for 141 yards/3 TD’s passing. He also rushed for 37 yards/2 TD’s. Payton has committed to South Dakota State.

On Defense, impact players for the Warriors include 3-star safety Koby Bretz, who is ranked the #5 top recruit in the state and a Nebraska commit. The defensive line is anchored by Cade Haberman (6’3″/260 lbs), who has committed to play college for Northern Illinois

To have any chance of defeating Westside, Millard North QB Jimmy Quaintance will need to play the game of his life. Quaintance is dangerous passing or running the ball. In their 46-41 win over Lincoln East, he led the team with 43 carries/274 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns. Defensive back Blake Closman led the defense with an INT return for a TD. Other impact players for the Mustangs include WR’s Luke Griesen and Tyson Johnk, along with RB Jason Cox.
