#3 Bellevue West knocked off #2 Millard South 49-29 Friday night at Buell Stadium.
The Thunderbirds showcased their versatility on offense and their power on defense for a genuine full-team effort in this win.
A Worthy Adversary
Bellevue West had to pull out all the stops to bring in this victory against an excellent Millard South squad. The Thunderbirds may have scored first, but Millard South rushed for both a TD and a 2-point conversion shortly afterward, putting them up 8-6 at the end of the first quarter.
T.J. Urban, the Patriots Air Force commit QB, ran for 118 yards including their first touchdown.
But the Bellevue West defense would not let up, resulting in multiple failed third down conversion attempts by the Patriots. By the time C.J Lilienkamp plucked a red-zone interception in the fourth quarter, it was clear that they weren’t pulling any punches.

High Flyers
Both Keagan Johnson and L.J. Richardson were instrumental in the Thunderbirds’ win with 3 touchdowns each on the night. The Iowa commit rushed for 88 yards, as well as racking up 128 receiving yards.
If there was any question as to how good Bellevue West's Keagan Johnson is…
Those questions were answered.
