Archbishop Rummel and Catholic will meet for the first time this season in the Louisiana Division I semifinals. But these teams certainly know each other.
The game will be broadcast live on Yurview Louisiana for customers of Cox Communications and will also stream live on Yurview.com.
Playoff rematch
These two have squared off in the playoffs previously. Actually, in 2015, Catholic edged Archbishop Rummel, 31-28, in the state championship.
Neither team will has many starters still on the roster from that game, but anyone who was a freshman and on those squads that season will be in this rematch.
Catholic also won the Division I championship last year, so with a victory, Catholic’s hopes of winning three titles in a four-year span will still be alive.
Heading into this Friday, Catholic owns a 10-1 record, including an eight-game winning streak. They lost their lone game, 41-21, against University Lab. Last week, No. 2 seeded Catholic defeated St. Augustine, 42-19.
Archbishop Rummel went 9-2 during the regular season and defeated Brother Martin, 27-23, in the Division I quarterfinals last week. Archbishop Rummel earned the No. 3 seed and earned a first-round bye in the playoffs just as Catholic did.
