Jared Terrell scored 24 points and Stanford Robinson added 17 points and 12 rebounds as the URI Rams controlled UMass from the tip en route to a 73-51 win at the Ryan Center on Wednesday night. With the victory, Rhode Island moved to 6-0 in Atlantic 10 play for the first time in school history.
Rhody started the game on a 9-2 run, and after a couple Malik Hines buckets, Dan Hurley’s team scored 11 straight, capped by a Terrell 3-pointer that gave the Rams a 20-6 lead just eight minutes into the game. UMass was just 3 for 12 shooting and had 8 turnovers during that stretch.

Things wouldn’t get much better for the Minutemen.
URI’s lead was cut to ten points, but they ended the first half on a 12-2 run to take a 40-20 lead. For the half, the Rams shot 50 percent from the field while UMass was a paltry 22 percent.
From there, Rhody put it in cruise control.
Terrell’s 24 points came on 8 for 13 shooting, while Robinson shot 6 for 10 from the field. Andre Berry chipped in with 11 points, while Cyril Langevine was his active self, grabbing 12 rebounds and swatting 3 shots.
