Game Preview: This Thursday 6A First Round playoff action gets underway when the 13th-ranked Desert Ridge Jaguars (5-5) visit last season’s state runner-up and 4th-seeded Pinnacle Pioneers (6-4). Offensively Desert Ridge has a stout offensive line led by Senior Right Tackle Greg Bienvenue (6’4″ 280 lbs), who has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, Boston College, and Iowa State. The Jaguars feature Senior Middle Linebacker Logan Rogers (5’10” 200 lbs), who is a 3-year starter and has led the team in tackles each season. Pinnacle is led by Junior QB Wyatt Horton (6’0″ 170 lbs) who had a breakout year last season with 31 TDs (2nd 6A) and has continued to torch opposing defenses this season. Defensively the Pioneers feature Senior Safety Spencer Halvorson (6’2″ 195 lbs) who is a tackling machine and Senior Defensive End Jack Franklin (6’4″ 200 lbs) who is committed to play next season at the Air Force Academy.
